New bankroll, new start

So I did go busto! Spent most of the money, lost the rest. Was a very fun ride... new game plan is proper bankroll strategy and lots of grinding!!! Have exams June 5-16 so will need to do lots of studying for that and a friend coming over for a couple weeks so until summer won't be able to play nearly as much as I want to but started today with $200 on stars. Playing $25 SHNL is the game plan, lots of tables, lots of hands... when I get to 20 buy-ins - 35 buy-ins for the next level I can move up provided I am beating the current level for ~ 10 big bets / 100 hands.

Hopefully will be doing lots of bonus whoring too on casinos and poker sites. Will post updates here and big monthly graphs ala zeebo. Today played 1373 hands, bankroll on $233.60 (remember I started with $200 my own $$)

roll: $233.60

WaSop and more $10-$20 NL

So WaSOP went pretty poorly. I realized I have no attention span and after the thrills of playing $10-$20 NL. Didn't have an ipod or anything to listen too or do so busted out after 40 minutes or so. Interesting hand is on a board of 10-10-K-K-4 (3 spades), where i've been betting loads of streets I get a call on the end (3k into a 5k pot) with some guy and his queen high!! haha. I had J6 suited so not great... that was pretty crap in all.

Got back to Leam later after mingling with the Poker Soc elite and discussing my new life style. Then this ridiculous pot. Back story is the guy has been gambling with his cards and pushing whenever he hits any piece of it, top pair, flush draws, over pairs etc etc:

Nightmare! I have never lost more than 1.2 K in a pot so it fucking sucked. But didnt actually get annoyed or anything, took the beat great. The player ran with the $$, I had a quick 3 hour nap. Mark played some 1-2 Multi tabling whilst I slept and made about $800. Woke up and got back on the $2K tables (Multitabling). Cleared about $4K so ended up currently (day is not over) $3.3k. Gonna watch some boxing now and then a few tournaments throughout the night!

Early morning multi-tabling

Woke up at 5am. Couldn't sleep. Was lots of action on the $10-$20 NL tables so thought I'd have a quick multitabling session. After going down $400 picked up this hand:

Looked pretty screwed on that hand but had to call on the river as he would have played a missed flush like that, possibly even jacks. And $950 to call $2700 pot that is some great odds. Nothing much after that, just a few missed hands and some nice continuation bets that got respected. This one guy, "yourcaught" was on terrible tilt and jerked off more money to the sharks. My poker office records him being down $15K this week on empire alone!!! Mentalist... Time to shower and get ready for the Warwick Series of Poker Main Event at my University :-D

Kader and Mark Bankroll

So as I am back into pro poker will keep anyone who is interested updated on here rather than telling everyone individually. So about 2 weeks ago me and my good friend Mark set out on a journey to become minted!

Day 1-2 Started with putting $200 on Party Poker and clearing a $100 bonus! After a good 4 hours of play we ended up clearing the bonus (8 tabling) but losing $70 so it was on $230. 2nd day we moved to Empire looking for bigger and better bonuses. Another $100 to clear but another day of losing on the 25-50cent NL tables so bank roll was on $290 :(

Day 3 Marky decided to play landora whilst I would try and clear a noble bonus. Disaster, $200 lost in a series of terrible beats on Landora... and at the end of the day I had only cleared $20 worth of bonuses and lost on the tables so I was just above evens....

Day 4. Mark knows he can beat the party game and I know I can do it at empire so I put our $290 bank roll into empire. We both start grinding it out on our sites $5-$1 games. One week later, and 15,000 hands later I have taken bad beat after bad beat but up to $1,200. Mark has been swinging around $400 and is on about $440. In multi table tourneys placed in 4 small ones for total cashes of around $700. Things are slowly picking up but what kind of life is it? Grinding it out day after day for an hourly rate of somewhere around $8 / hour. Might as well stay in bed.

Week 2: I decide its time to play higher limits. $2-4 NL. I lost a bit then climbed up to $1,000 total. Bank roll was on $1.8 then a huge huge pot where I had the straight flush draw with 98clubs and all the money goes in on the turn. I actually made a very bad stubborn call for all my chips and he had the higher straight, lose $1K as I dont make my flush. Nightmare... Tilted off a load more $$ and the bank roll was down to $320 (we had taken out the original $200 investment so it was profit). Mark had moved to ultimate bet after breaking $400 on party but lost $200 and was back down to $200 total so he was back on party. At the end of week 2 things we're looking terrible. We were almost broke again. Weekend off, regroup on Monday.

Week 3 Tue: It was time to go on a rush so I sat on a $1-2 NL table. 7 hours later the bank roll was on $1,400! I was back in action. Played some tourneys, none came through and the day ended on $1,200.

Week 3 Wed: $2-4 NL and I quickly make $450. Bank roll is on $1,650. It's late at night and I am hungry for a bigger game. No action on empire's $5-10 tables but for some reason the $10-$20 NL ($2000 buy in) is ripe for the taking. 8 people sitting. $30,000 or so on the table. Worth a shot? Definately. I sat for $1,500. I was shaking at first, almost pissing my pants in fact and playing crap like a rock. An hour in I was alright though and the game was on. Mark was supervising, giving us that added edge. Dropped down to $800 at one point but fought back up then nut flush on the flop:

My mistake? If I am gonna play the hand I need to bet $600 on the turn to stop that move being possible. The $300 bet was just weak. If I was going to give up the hand I should have let it go right there on the turn and not bet. Ah well, but a little while later AK gets paid off:

Nothing too eventful after and the day ended on $3,600.

Week 3 Thu: An amazing day of cards. Play some $5-10 in the morning and make an easy $1,500. Go out, come back later for the night shift and sit on the $10-$20 table. I did get some cards but I extracted maximum value, I also had Aces cracked 3 out of 4 times and Kings cracked every time but managed to make over $8,500. At my peak I was up $12,000 for the session but my aces managed to run into ducks when they hit a 4 card flush... nightmare. The bank roll was looking great on $13.5K. Cashed out quite a bit to buy some clothes, laptops etc.

Week 3 Fri: Pretty tired and headache but thought I could play a bit of poker. Wrong idea. First losing day on this level, it stings a little but I just didn't really get any hands and kept running into people with them! Lost $3,000. Tommorow is the WaSOP though (look forward to a tourney report from that) and on Sunday going to be playing the $1million guaranteed on Stars and the $500k guaranteed on Party ($215 buy in each)..

From now on I will be keeping this really up to date with important hands daily and bankroll issues. It is just as much for me and my records (when I write my biography) as it is for anyone interested. Enjoy, and wish me luck in this week's tournament action. Look forward to Mark and I's book, "The Rules of Poker". Gonna start writing it over Easter, including, "Chapter 4: Quads", "Chapter 13: Flopping the Royal". Will reveal all on my amazing cash game system!

Critical Hand at Walsall

Last week at Walsall Casino I was playing in the $100 NL Hold’em freezeout (using $’s now for my American readers). You get 3,000 chips for your money and the blinds are structured very nicely. On the 2nd level I picked up a very critical hand but made what I consider to be my best call of the week. The blinds were 50-100 and I had about 3,500 in chips. In early position I picked up JJ and raised to 300 total. A guy in middle position calls, and then the fishiest player on the big blind calls. Flop comes out 7-5-2 rainbow. The really bad player bets 500, and I need to find out where I am in the hand so I re-raise to 1,000 total. Now action was onto the guy in middle position, and he thought about it for a while and then moved all in. Of course if the bad player called I would fold because he could have absolutely anything. However, he folded so now I dropped into the think tank. The pot was about 3,100 plus the all in so I had to call my remaining ~2,200 chips. Firstly, I remembered a hand earlier where this player had Kings and it was raised preflop, he had re-raised it that time. Thus, I banked on the fact that Kings / Aces he would have re-raised preflop so I couldn’t put him on those hands. If he had AK then it had missed and he was trying to push out all the other hands then it’d be correct to call. If he had any sort of straight draw then it was correct for me to call as I would be way ahead, and because none of the board card’s connected I couldn’t put him on a tricky suited connector that two paired. If he had Ace-x and made top pair he wouldn’t have pushed because with it going raise, re-raise he was a smart player and would know that he was beat. Now, what about a set? If he had flopped a set which was very plausible, surely he would have wanted the call and especially with that really bad player in, if he had called the 1,000 then the other player would have 99% called. This would mean that he would make a lot more money. Also, with no major draws like flush draws, there would be no really need to protect his set so I was very sure that the if he had a set he wouldn’t have moved all in. So what did this player have? He was a good player so AK, and a pocket pair lower than Kings that didn’t make a set was very possible. These are the hands that I put him on and if I was him I probably would have done the same in his spot, trying to protect his hand and pick up the pot there and then. Therefore, the only thing I was worried about was Queens. It’s a hand that he probably wouldn’t have re-raised preflop and the only possible hand I put him on that beat me. But poker is about putting as much of the puzzle together and seeing what it makes, even if you don’t have all the pieces. Thus, I decided to call and he flipped over pocket 10s. The early double up was great and I was really proud of my call. I went on the place 7th and in the money. My stack never dipped below 6,000 and I played very well. David Lu, a friend of mine was also in the tournament and we sat on four different tables together that night. He was always two to my left, so sorry about constantly stealing your blinds! Having a friend with me all the way defiantly helps motivate you to do better and not get reckless as they are always watching. It’s a week late but congratulations on winning that, you defiantly deserved it.

On a side note, the search for a poker nickname continues. Sorry if I missed out your suggestions, but feel free to msn me at or on AIM at nextgenneo. Here’s what I have so far:
